Kav Hachesed

Kav Hachesed is a non-profit organization that was founded ten years ago by a group of energetic individuals with considerable initiative. It is headed and managed by Eliahu Marciano, the organization's executive director. The staff members of Kav Hachesed work tirelessly to help the needy and to try to combat the severe problem of poverty in Israel.

In the wake of the government's recent economic decrees, which have severely hurt the weaker segments of Israeli society, Kav Hachesed's volunteers put in a strenuous effort daily in order to offer vital assistance to needy families in the low-income bracket, to needy families with one or more chronically ill members or with other limitations, to very large families and single-parent families in the low income bracket and to thousands of hungry children in whose homes an empty refrigerator is a common sight.

We thank all those who helped in the distribution of Passover food baskets and we turn to you with the request to kindly help support a project we will be launching for the third time: A Bar Mitzvah party for 26 boys from low-income families who attend schools with which we are in continual contact and where we distribute sandwiches to pupils who are unable to bring a sandwich from home!
Kav Hachesed's thoughts are with these boys on their most important day, their Bar Mitzvah, and we are purchasing for each boy: A deluxe set of kosher tefillin, a complete outfit for the Bar Mitzvah party, and a festive meal for the parents, teachers and the Bar Mitzvah boys. The tefillin-laying ceremony will take place at the Kotel on Monday, May 28, 2007 (Sivan 11, 5767). The cost of the complete Bar Mitzvah kit for each boy is NIS2,000. Every contribution, even a partial one, will be welcomed with joy and will help us reach the figure needed for the entire kit! With thanks and best wishes!

• 12.14.07 Full container of high quality second hand cloths arrived from Italy for all the family. The distribution will take place in 23th Shimon Hatzadik st., Jerusalem (in Talmud Tora "Bamsila naa'le"). To cover expenses each item will cost only 1 NIS .

• 12.10.07 On Thursday ,December 20,2007(Tevet 11, 5768) , Kav Hachesed will make a second Bar Mitzva for 26 boys. • 08.30.07 Kav Hachesed: Getting ready for Rosh Hashanah 5768
We would like you to know about our activities this past summer.
First, we continued our regular weekly distribution of Sabbath food baskets (including frozen chickens) to Kav Hachesed's families.
We are almost finished distributing schoolbags and comprehensive school kits to Kav Hachesed's children for the new 5768 (2007/08) school year.
This summer we held an additional Bar-Mitzvah party for 26 of Kav Hachesed's young boys, to whom we gave a deluxe tefillin set, clothing for the Bar Mitzvah party and a festive meal with the participation of parents, teachers, and other children that had a holiday atmosphere of joy and gladness.
We are now getting ready for the distribution of our generous food baskets for Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot. We will be distributing food products needed for the holidays as well as wine and honey for a good, sweet year.
The cost of a basket for one family is $50

• 03.10.07 Kav Hachesed is continuing with its regular distribution of hundreds of food baskets each week to needy families that live under the poverty line. Recently, Kav Hachesed has added, on a regular basis, four frozen chickens per family per month at a cost of $24.
